On November 1st, 2023, we were delighted to be back to hosting our professional development seminars and hosted a seminar on Cross-Border Tax and Estate Planning at the Terminal City Club. Here are some highlights for those who couldn’t join us.

Ryan Gill from KPMG in Canada was our keynote speaker, who is well known in the Lower Mainland as the expert on estate planning in a cross-border context. Here’s what he covered:

  • A review of US tax basics
  • US Estate Tax and related planning fundamentals
  • Life insurance in the cross-border context
  • US anti-deferral rules
  • US beneficiaries of Canadian trusts

The Seminar concluded with a Q&A from our audience.
